What's involved in prepping a building pad for a new home?+
Building pad prep involves stripping topsoil, excavating to the correct elevation, compacting the sub-grade, and achieving proper drainage slope away from the structure. We work to your engineer's spec so the pad is structurally sound before any foundation work begins.
How much gravel base do I need for a driveway in Colorado?+
Residential driveways typically need 6–8 inches of compacted gravel base for asphalt or concrete. Rural driveways and areas with poor soil may need more. We assess soil conditions and recommend the right base depth for your specific site.
What's the difference between a gravel driveway base and a finished surface?+
The base is the compacted gravel layer that provides structural support. The finished surface — asphalt, concrete, or decorative gravel — goes on top. We handle the base preparation. Surface paving is a separate trade, but we coordinate with your paving contractor.
Can you build access roads through wooded or rocky terrain?+
Yes. We have the equipment to clear, excavate, and grade access roads through challenging terrain including trees, rock, and steep grades. We assess the route during the site visit and give you a realistic quote.
How long does building pad prep typically take?+
A standard residential building pad typically takes 1–2 days to prep. Larger pads, difficult terrain, or combined site clearing and pad work can take longer. We'll give you a specific timeline in the estimate.
